Synopsis

After years of exile, Remo returns to his childhood village in the Balkans. He must help his adoptive cousin, Una, with the exhumation of a mass grave that contains most of their family members buried there during the war. But the bodies reveal family secrets that will make Remo and Una question their past and their future. A film about the possibility of truth in a place that only knows survival.

Biografie

Born in Kosovo, Fisnik Maxville is a Swiss film director and writer. He was a refugee in Switzerland until 2005. While studying International History and Geopolitics in London and Geneva, he wrote and directed his first short films. Later, he attended film school at ECAL in Lausanne and HEAD in Geneva and graduated in 2016 with his short fiction Lost Exile which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and won a Jury Award.

In 2017, he founds Visceral Films, a production company where he produced, wrote and directed four films from 2017 to 2020, of which three were screened at international festivals and won several prizes.

Fisnik works mainly in Switzerland, in Eastern Europe and in Canada where he has various projects. His debut film is a feature fiction between Switzerland and Kosovo, The Land Within.
